"Tier 2: Sold Out" investigates the intimate interiors of people’s private spaces all captured and cataloged with a digital device. Anthony touches each piece with a fantastical and imaginative decor and accouterments that contradict the subjects everyday life. Trivial objects are placed in the scenes to characterize and define the contemporary situations in which most of us have faced. Inside of GLASS BOX, TIER 2: SOLD OUT presents a full-scale interactive installation that will place you within the environments of the paintings, making each visitor a subject and important part of selected works.
Anthony White’s creative practice explores the components of nostalgia, status and wealth, digital intimacy, and memories that form his personality and build his artistic identity. He is influenced by the exponential growth of technology and the result it has on contemporary youth romance, taboo issues and social hierarchies; ones that live on opposite ends of familiarity. His work contradicts two tiers of status by placing trivial accouterments in luxurious environments. His process requires laborious acts of repetition and detail oriented craftsmanship by recreating patterns and textures of historical trade skills, all out of plastic.
